What is your adoption process?
The first step is filling out the NYC dog adoption application. We ask for two personal references who can attest to your ability to care for a dog, your veterinarian’s contact information, and if you rent your apartment/house, your landlords contact information.

Applications are processed on a first come first served basis and the best fit for the dog will be chosen. Once the application is processed, a home visit will be scheduled.

We invite you, your family and your current dogs to visit Camp Happy Tails NYC Rescue to meet the dog you are thinking about adopting to ensure a successful meet and greet. Once contract and payment are complete, you may bring your new dog to his/her forever home!

Are there adoption fees?
Yes. Adoption Fees are:

$400 for a puppy who is up to six (6) months old
$350 for a puppy who is six (6) months old to 1 year old
$300 for a dog who is one (1) year old to eight (8) years old
$200 for a senior dog who is older than eight (8) years old

Adoption fees include spay/neuter, chip, and up to date vaccines.

Is there an age requirement to adopt?
All applicants must be a minimum of 25 years of age.
What can I expect when I take my adopted dog home?
At first your new pup may be shy, unsure, even scared of his new environment and new family. Or he may be overexcited and display out of control behavior. Every dog responds to change differently. There may even be “accidents” in the house. TO ENSURE A SUCCESSFUL AND SAFE TRANSITION, PLEASE BE PATIENT AND FOLLOW THE RULES OF DECOMPRESSION AND SLOW INTRODUCTIONS that we lay out in our contract and will discuss with you thoroughly prior to picking up your dog.
If the adoption doesn’t work out, can we return the dog?
Yes! Once a Camper, always a Camper!

If you need to relinquish your dog for any reason, please contact us immediately.

Do you adopt to out of state families?
We adopt to New York (NY), New Jersey (NJ), Connecticut (CT), and parts of Pennsylvania (PA) and Massachusetts (MA).
